Shoulder Surgery

My shoulder surgery Tuesday went strangely... They expected to go in and tack my labrum back into place and stabilize my shoulder by tightening up a particular "capsule". When they got in, my labrum was "more like an 18 year old pitcher's than a 35 year old pitcher's" - the labrum looked just fine. Further, the capsule showed very little stretching and didn't warrant a tightening. MRIs aren't perfect I guess. So, what was the problem? Further poking around revealed a leaky and damaged bursa sack, and Dr. Dillingham performed a bursectomy. Apparently bursa sacks regrow in less than 6 weeks, so that's good. Then, Dr. Dillingham went on to check out my Acromio-Clavicle (sp?) (AC) joint which we knew I had separated some years back and which had healed kinda funny since I had ignored it. He decided it was prudent to cut off the end of my clavicle so the joint doesn't bump into itself anymore. That required an incision and some stitches. Bones heal rather quickly, so I should be back to normal in 6 weeks instead of 4 months.

After waking up we discovered I was one of the 20% of people who are nauseated by general anesthesia. We also discovered that I am one of the 1% of people who don't respond to any modern anti-nausea drugs. Puking for a few hours commenced. As a last resort they decided to try an "old-school" anti-nausea drug which pretty much gets rid of your nausea by getting rid of your useful consciousness. Soon enough I found myself at home. The pain has been tolerable. I should probably be taking my Vicadin, but with my tendency for nausea, I decided to deal with the pain instead of the puking. The shoulder does really cool things now including two of:

1) Squeaking
2) Making Farting Noises
3) Helping Me See The Future

Re: Shoulder Surgery
Hey man, did they let you keep your old bursa sack? I hear that if you plant it in your garden, a really beautiful bursa tree will grow.

Re: Shoulder Surgery
I forgot to ask for all my body parts back. I could have a bursa tree and a clavicle tree!
