Matthew's List

To appreciate this list fully, one needs a little background on my family. My brothers and I fought a bunch when we were little. Well, more accurately, I beat up my brothers a lot when they were little. Kyle is three years younger than me, so he got the brunt of it. Kevin, six years younger, also got the occasional pummel. Matthew, eleven years younger, was immune from my wrath for the most part. However, Kevin was known to give him a good whooping every once in a while. Fortunately, everybody survived mostly intact, except for our mother who lost her mind. We're all great friends now, and are blessed to play on the same ultimate frisbee team during the summer.

Kevin is usually home for the summer between his years of school at the University of California at San Diego. Matthew is still in high-school. My wife came by the house after church one Sunday and discovered the following list in a pile of papers on the kitchen counter. In Matthew's handwriting it read:

Things to du.

  1. Take out the trash.
  2. Feed the cat.
  3. Empty the dishwasher.
  4. Punch Kevin in da face.
  5. Thank Dad for fridge moving lessons.
Spectacular. The best part is that this type of stuff is par for the course at our house. I'll get a picture of this list up ASAP.
